The Step Most Installers Skip

A Good Floor StartsBelow the Surface

Most flooring failures aren't product failures. They're preparation failures. We check the subfloor before we commit to any installation, and we fix what needs fixing first.

Skipped prep

Creaking boards, visible movement, premature wear, and a bill to fix it all over again

Done properly

A floor that sits silent and stable underfoot for years, exactly as it should

What we check

Levelness, moisture content, surface condition, structural integrity, before any product goes down

Free subfloor assessment · Laser levels & moisture meters · We fix it before we floor it

Professional floor preparation and grinding Perth

The Foundation of Every Great Floor

Most flooring problems aren't product problems. They start below the surface: moisture trapped under a new floor, a subfloor that dips 3mm in the wrong spot, or a surface that wasn't cleaned before laying began.

We use laser levels and calibrated moisture meters on every job, not guesswork, not a quick look. If the reading says there's an issue, we address it before a single board goes down.

We fix what's underneath before we install what goes on top.

Floor preparation includes a full assessment: level mapping across the entire surface, moisture testing at multiple points, crack and hole repair, surface grinding, and levelling compound where required. The surface is then vacuumed clean before installation starts.

What's Included

Comprehensive floor preparation service

Subfloor Assessment

We check level, moisture content, and surface condition with proper instruments, not a visual guess

Grinding & Leveling

Diamond grinding to knock back high spots and create a surface that's flat within tolerance

Crack & Hole Repair

Filled and sealed before anything else goes down, not patched over with flooring on top

Moisture Testing

Multiple readings across the floor, plus barrier installation where readings require it

Cleaning & Vacuuming

Complete dust and debris removal after preparation. The surface we hand over to installation is ready to receive flooring

Final Inspection

A second check before installation begins, because prep that doesn't meet standard doesn't get signed off

Frequently Asked Questions

A floor is only as good as what it sits on. An uneven surface causes boards to flex and creak. Trapped moisture causes swelling and lifting. Skipping preparation is how floors that looked fine on day one fail within twelve months.

We assess it during the free measure. A laser level tells us about flatness; a moisture meter tells us about what's in the slab. Most homeowners are surprised by what turns up, and glad we checked.

Yes. Grinding creates dust, so we use extraction equipment and plan around your household. We discuss timing and access during the consultation so nothing catches you off guard.

Usually one to two days for a typical residential job. More extensive levelling or moisture work may take a little longer. We give you a clear timeframe in the quote.

Not always. Some subfloors are genuinely ready. But we always check, because we're the ones responsible for what gets installed on top of it.
